Letter from Prince Albert to Lord John Russell
25 Jan 1853Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (3 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/C/19/51
Letter from Prince Albert to Lord John Russell reporting that the Queen would not object to Mr Murray's appointment to one of the European missions, but that for the first appointment it may be wise not to choose a very important post. He provides his opinion as to which missions are more important than others. Prince Albert also approves of sending a horse as a gift to the Pasha of Egypt and believes that Mr Layard would be the best candidate for the Egyptian Consul Generalship.
