Letter from Prince Albert to Colonel Wylde

6 Jan 1847

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/Z/488/8

Prince Albert writes that they are pleased with Saldanha's victory. He refers to Colonel Wylde's conversation with Dietz and points out that Dietz staying and getting behind the Queen [of Portugal] are 'old tricks'. Prince Albert also mentions that the King [of Portugal] still writes with affection for Colonel Wylde despite Dietz's attempts to damage him. Prince Albert finally thanks Colonel Wylde for the acorns and outlines the reshuffle in his Household.
