PRINCE ALBERT, PRINCE CONSORT (1819-61)

Letter from Prince Albert to Colonel Wylde

15 Dec 1846

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/Z/488/6

Prince Albert writes that he has sent on the confidential dispatch to Lord Palmerston. He states that Colonel Wylde's presence is not favourably looked upon by the entourage of the Court but that the King [of Portugal] is fond of him. He mentions that the King begged him to stop Count Mensdorff and Prince Albert reiterates the importance of Colonel Wylde going 'hand in hand' with Count Mensdorff.
