Letter from Thomas Spring Rice, Chancellor of the Exchequer, to Queen Victoria reporting on the 'state of the Financial Department' during the year ending 5 April 1838. This includes details of arrangements made for Her Majesty''s income, changes to the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster, plus Civil List pensions. He also reports on the necessity for spending on military defences in Canada and the abolition of tin duties, which are to be compensated by the Consolidated Fund.
