25 Apr 1848Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (3 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/C/56/51
Letter from Lord Ashley to Prince Albert with regards to his proposal and conceding that the Prince could only acquiesce to the decision of the Prime Minister. He asks that he may express his disappointment to Lord John Russell and provides his reasons for doing so. Lord Ashley advises that the Prime Minister's concern over the Chartists speaking at the meeting should not prevent it from going ahead and states that by not listening to them both the Queen and Prince Albert could be accused of indifference to the state of the public.
