Memorandum by Queen Victoria

29 Mar 1851

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (8 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/S/30/1

Queen Victoria expresses her thoughts on the potential marriage of Prince Edward of Saxe-Weimar. She states that she cannot interfere, but provided that his family consent to the marriage, she would have no objection in receiving his wife as a princess. She discusses the possibility of Prince Edward waiving his rights and suggests a marriage with her cousin Mary [Princess of Cambridge].
