Professor Sedgwick refers to the Oxford and Cambridge mission to central Africa and mentions letters from Archdeacon Mackenzie and the Cambridge secretary of the mission. He conveys the request that Prince Albert would act as Chancellor to countenance the mission but discusses the difficulties which confront it.
