Letter from Prince Albert to Lord John Russell returning Mr Gladstone's memorandum (not present) and stating that he is much pleased with the views expressed by the Commissioners [inquiring into the state of the universities]. The Prince adds his own comments on the points raised in the memorandum and details his own views on what a university should be, and in particular on university fellowships.
