PRINCE ALBERT, PRINCE CONSORT (1819-61)
Letter from Prince Albert to Lord John Russell
14 Nov 1849Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/C/17/38
Prince Albert writes that taking possession and furnishing the apartment at Holyrood Palace would fall to the Office of Woods. He refers to an arrangement between Lord Cunningham as Lord Chamberlain and Lord Duncannon, stating that the Lord Chamberlain gave up all the palaces except the Pavilion, Buckingham Palace, St James's Palace and Windsor Castle to the Woods and Forests. He suggests that Lord Carlisle is called upon for an estimate for the furnishing of the apartment at Holyrood and that General Bowles can assist.
