Draft letter from Queen Victoria to Lord Derby acknowledging receipt of his previous letter regarding the St. Albans' Disfranchisement Bill. The Queen states that she cannot anticipate whether the transfer of the seats will be met with opposition however she mentions that it may be perceived as a strengthening the power of the landed interest. She suggests disposing of others seats which Lord John Russell had previously proposed and states that this would be for Lord Derby to consider and would not stop her sanctioning the measure.
Written in Prince Albert's hand.
