      Copy letter from Lord Lyons to the Duke of Newcastle reporting on political opinions that may affect the Prince of Wales's visit to the United States. He also reminds the Duke of the risk of using the American rail as means of transport. He encloses a memorandum regarding a letter which Mr Seward read to him (VIC/MAIN/Z/466/23) and also advising that the Prince's tour be confined to the northern states.
