An album containing 63 photographs (RCINs 2370824-2370887) of various views of mountains and villages in the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. Civiale's systematic documentation of the Alpine landscape has been described as one of the earliest applications of photography to the study of geology. The end result of his decade-long project was the publication of 'Les Alpes au point de vue de la géographie physique et de la géologie' in 1882 (RCIN 1075955).
