Photograph of a painting by Paul Delaroche, created in 1844 in Rome. The work depicts a barefoot young woman in full length, seated on the steps of a Baroque-style building, facing to the right. A baby is snug in her lap nursing, while an older child stands between her knees holding a begging bowl.
