Photograph of a painting by Paul Delaroche, created in 1844 and now in the collection of the Château de Versailles (Inv. no. MV 4835). This three-quarter length portrait of Gregory XVI (1765-1846) depicts the pope seated in an armchair facing the viewer. He turns his head slightly to the left and gazes ahead. He wears a skull cap and a winter mozzetta trimmed with fur over a laced rochet.
