Photograph of a Limoges enamel plaque of Anne, Duke de Montmorency (1493-1567) from the collection of the Louvre, Paris (N 1254). Created in 1556 by Léonard Limosin (c.1506-1577), the bust-length portrait depicts the bearded High Constable facing slightly to the left and looking at the viewer. He wears a fur-lined cloak over a jerking, and beret on his head. A pendant of the Order of St Michel hangs from his neck. The work is enclosed in a ornately carved gilded frame including eight enamel plaques decorated with medallions, satyrs and masks.
