Photograph of a Limoges enamel medallion created in 1553 by Léonard Limosin (c.1506-1577), part of his Crucifixion retable for Saint-Chapelle, Paris (see RCIN 2864504). As with the rest of the retable, this fragment has been in the collection of the Louvre since 1816 (MR 208 1). It shows François I (1515-1547) in full length facing to the right. Dressed in sumptuous court dress, the French king kneels in prayer before an open bible.
