Photograph of a Limoges enamel medallion created in 1553 by Léonard Limosin (c.1506-1577), part of his Crucifixion retable for Saint-Chapelle, Paris (see RCIN 2864504). As with the rest of the retable, this fragment has been in the collection of the Louvre since 1816 (MR 208 1). It shows Claude of France (1499–1524), consort to François I (1515-1547), in full length facing to the left. Dressed in sumptuous court dress, the French queen kneels in prayer before a open bible.
