Princess Alice thanks her father for his message from Coburg. She details a trip in the 'Fairy' to breakfast with Prince Alfred at Alverbank and mentions her mother's intention to go on the '?Rollo' to see Prince Alfred practising. She also recounts a funny story involving Prince Leopold and Madame Rollande, and mentions a trip to Swiss Cottage by the younger children and the Greys.
