Prince Albert writes to Queen Victoria and mentions her Speech at the opening of Parliament saying that she must have been nervous but he is sure she would have 'surmounted all the reefs successfully'. He also mentions some of his social engagements, including a masked ball at a new theatre, and says that his Investiture with the Order of the Garter is to take place on that same day. He also writes that they are grieving his father's best friend, Herr von Carlowitz and also sets out the plan for their journey to England.
