Letter written by Prince Albert to Queen Victoria regarding his emotional departure from Coburg. He also wishes Victoria a happy New Year and encloses a New Year token, as is customary in Germany. New Year token is enclosed and mounted in the volume. It consists of a small decorative gold frame, decorative wreath made from ?paper and mother of pearl miniature envelope. The envelope opens up to reveal a message in German, which reads;

'Dies Briefchen sag,

Mein Herz verehrt,
Dich immer dar''
