JESSE HAYT

Copy letter from Mr Hayt to the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies

9 Aug 1860

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (3 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/Z/466/70

Copy letter from Mr Hayt to the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, for the information of Queen Victoria, reporting that he had received a telegram stating that the Prince of Wales had arrived at Charlottetown and Prince Edward Island. He explains that he is sending the letter as the telegram service at Prince Edward Island had broken and that the 'telegraphic advices' from the Prince would fail to reach Halifax in time for transportation to Liverpool. He also mentions that he has enclosed a copy of the latest Halifax newspaper, reporting on the journey of His Royal Highness through Nova Scotia (see VIC/MAIN/Z/466/72).
