The boy holds a broom in his right hand. He wears a cap, tartan scarf, dark colour shirt, dark colour trousers (both with light colour cuffs), dark colour socks and dark colour shoes.

Dr. Hugh Welch Diamond is now best remembered for his photographs of the mentally ill.
