Photograph of a full length group portrait of Prince Arthur, later Duke of Connaught (1850-1942) standing beside his sister Princess Alice, later Duchess of Hesse and Rhine (1843-78) seated on s pony, both accompanied by John Brown (1826-83). Brown holds the reins of the pony and faces towards the camera. Princess Alice and Prince Arthur face left, and turn their heads slightly towards the camera. Brown and Prince Arthur both wear highland dress, including kilts. There is a building in the background. Photograph taken at Balmoral.
