Photograph of the Puerta de Santa Maria in the city of Burgos, in northern Spain. Above the main archway are six niches with statues flanked by crenallated bartizans. At the top of the gateway are further, smaller turrets.

The Santa Maria gate formed the main entrance into Burgos across the River Arlaneon. It was constructed during the 14th century to honour the arrival of the Emperor Charles V.
