1859-68Poitevin process | 26.3 x 34.3 cm (image) | RCIN 2370864
View of the Wetterhorn peak rising above the village of Grindelwald in the Bernese Alps. The photograph was taken from the Hotel de L'Aigle, built by Weibel Christian Bohren in 1818. Being Grindelwald’s first guest house, Hotel de L'Aigle marked the beginning of the village’s transformation from a farming settlement into a winter resort. The hotel was destroyed by fire in 1897, and the Sunstar-Adler-Hotel now stands in its place.
