Albumen print | 19.6 x 24.6 cm (image) | RCIN 2102845

Photograph showing the entrance to the fortress at Coburg. A guard stands at the main entrance, under the stone opening. A man leans on a wooden bridge connected to the gate.

This is one of a series of photographs that were commissioned by Queen Victoria to be presented to her husband Prince Albert on his birthday in August 1857. Bedford, accompanied by his wife, travelled to Coburg in June and early July to photograph the places associated with the Prince's childhood.
