1857

Albumen print | 18.6 x 24.5 cm (image) | RCIN 2102851

Photograph taken from the road outside Rosenau Palace at Coburg. There is a lawn in front of the Palace. The Palace is surrounded by trees.

The Palace was the birthplace and childhood home of Prince Albert. This is one of a series of photographs that were commissioned by Queen Victoria to be presented to her husband Prince Albert on his birthday in August 1857. Bedford, accompanied by his wife, travelled to Coburg in June and early July to photograph the places associated with the Prince's childhood.
