'Prince Charles Edward Stuart, in his old age'

Photograph of a half-length portrait of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (1720-88) as an old man. The sitter is facing to the right, turning his head to look at the viewer. His coat with the Garter star on the left breast is unbuttoned, revealing the order's sash and a laced frill. His powdered wig is dressed with curls above the ears and tied into a queue.

At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of Earl of Fife, Duff-House, Banddshire. It is believed that the work was created by Hugh Douglas Hamilton (1740-1808) and is now in the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland (PG 622).
