1857-58Albumen print? | RCIN 2160778
Photograph of a painting by Paul Delaroche, created in 1842 and now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Nantes (Inv. no. 902). The work depicts Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (1463-94) as a baby with his mother. Pico della Mirandola is seated on a sumptuous cushion placed on top of a finely carved wooden cabinet in the foreground. His left ankle rests over his right knee, while his right index reaches for his mouth. He faces to the left looking at an open book held by his mother, who dominates the background.
