Photograph of a painting by Paul Delaroche, created around 1855 and now in the collection of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. This three-quarter length portrait of Émile Jacob Pereire (1800-1875) depicts the French financier standing, facing a quarter to the left and looking at the viewer. His hands are clasped in front of him, with his left hand holding a top hat. Piles of documents are placed on a desk in the background.
