'Mary, Queen of Scots'

Photograph of a full-length portrait of Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-87). The sitter is depicted standing in an interior space, facing three-quarters to the right and gazing at the viewer. She poses holding a rose(?) in her right hand, while resting her left hand on a desk beside her. She wears a tartan cloak over an embroidered ankle-length dress with high collar. A heart shaped bonnet covers part of her hair. 

At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of John Benjamin Heath (1790–1879), Esq. Sardinian Consul-General, London.
