Photograph of the painting 'Market Scene by Night' (RCIN 407532). The painting depicts three market sellers, two women, one man, gathered around a candle on an upturned basket. Various game is laid out on the basket. There are buildings in the background, illuminated by moonlight.
Photograph is from a folder of photographs of paintings and artworks displayed in Prince Albert's (1819-61) rooms. This painting was displayed in Prince Albert's dressing room, on the south side. This painting was purchased by Queen Victoria for £200, and given to Prince Albert on 26 Aug 1845.
