Photograph of a drawing by Paul Delaroche, created in 1836. This head-and-shoulder portrait of Horace Vernet (1789-1863) depicts the artist facing a quarter to the left and gazing at the viewer. He wears a cravat around his neck and tucked inside the collar of his jacket.
