Photograph of an oval enamelled plaque by Jean de Court (c.1530-85), created in the end of the sixteen century and now in the collection of the Louvre, Paris (MR 2519). The work depicts Minerva in full-length, standing in a garden and wearing a helmet. She holds a lance in her left hand, whilst resting her right hand on a shield with Medusa's head. An owl is visible at her feet, on the right. The composition is placed centrally on a cartouche decorated with mythical figures and painted gems.
