Albumen print? | RCIN 2160758

Photograph of a painting by Paul Delaroche, created in 1831 and now in the collection of the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Nîmes (Inv. no. IP59). Loosely based on the accounts by François-René de Chateaubriand (1768-1848) and François Guizot (1787-1874), the work depicts Oliver Cromwell (1599-1658) lifting the lid of the coffin of Charles I (1600-49) to view the body of the executed king.
