Photograph of the front side of an enamelled reliquary casket, created in Limoges in the first half of the eighth century and now in the collection of the Louvre, Paris (MR 2647). The lid is decorated with a single plaque divided in three vertical zones by decorative bands. The central scene shows Christ in Majesty, flanked by two apostles in the side sections. The body of the casket bears similar decoration, with the central scene showing the Christ on the cross accompanied by the Virgin and St John as well as two hovering angles.
