Glass plate negative of a view of the 1855 Room, Buckingham Palace. There is a large overmantel mirror over the marble fireplace, an assortment of upholstered furniture and covered tables, and paintings, including a full-length portrait of Eugénie, Empress of the French by Mary Curtis (RCIN 402021); portrait of Prince Frederick William of Prussia (1831-1888), later Emperor Frederick III of Germany (RCIN 405122), The Naval Review at Spithead, 23 April 1856 (RCIN 405118), and Pedro V, King of Portugal (RCIN 402018).
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2101713.
