Table with gifts
1850-60RCIN 2084101
Glass plate negative showing a table with gifts set up possibly for Christmas in Windsor Castle. Among the presents are prints, volumes, decorative objects and two desk busts, one of which likely a copy of Matthew Noble's Queen Victoria.
The Royal Family generally spent Christmas at Windsor Castle, where they had several Christmas tables for each other and for members of the Royal Household. Presents were distributed on Christmas Eve.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Royal Collection.
