Glass plate negative featuring four full-length portraits of John Cole (d.1869), Head Keeper at Windsor Great Park. He is shown standing, holding a rifle and dressed in a coat with gold trimming, a belt and a top hat. All images were taken outdoors.

John Cole was appointed Heap Keeper in July 1839.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection, however portraits of him are represented by RCINs 2914398 and 2910325-6.
