Royal Park Keepers
1864RCIN 2083793
Glass plate negative featuring four full-length portraits, each depicting a Royal Park Keeper at Windsor Great Park. The top two images show John Cole (d.1869), while the bottom two Sampson Strickland. Both men are pictured outdoors at the same location, assuming a similar pose with one hand resting on a fence.
John Cole was appointed Head Keeper in July 1839 and Sampson Strickland Park Keeper in March 1843.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection, apart from the bottom right which is represented by RCIN 2910327.
