Glass plate negative of a full length portrait of a foal nursing from its mother. Both horses are unsaddled and standing on a path in a large grassed area, possibly in the grounds of Osborne House. An groom in top hand stands beside the mare, holding a rope attached to its reins.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.
