Glass plate negatives

Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

WILLIAM BAMBRIDGE (1820-79)

Head of a stag

c. 1854

RCIN 2083074

Glass plate negative of the head of a stag, facing towards the camera. There is a brick wall in the background. The photograph was possibly taken in Windsor Great Park.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection, however a variant from the same session may be RCIN 2116995.
