Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods
Fireplace, Crimson Drawing Room, Windsor Castle
1850-70RCIN 2084265
Glass plate negative of the fireplace in the Crimson Drawing Room, Windsor Castle, flanked by bronze figures of Pan with infants, on the floor (RCIN 4193.1). The mantel is decorated with the 'Spirit of the Arts' clock by Vulliamy and Thomire (RCIN 30015), two small bronze figurines in domed glasses cases and a pair of candelabra.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.
