Glass plate negative a a full length double portrait of Miss Mary Barrington (fl. 1854) and Lady Caroline Barrington (1797-1875). Mary Barrington is seated on a balustrade on the right. Caroline Barrington stands on the left, and is captured in profile, gazing at Mary. Photograph taken at Osborne.

Lady Caroline Barrington was Woman of the Bedchamber from 1837 to 1875 and Superintendent to the Princesses.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2906542.
