RC/H/1/1/15

This is a printed draft copy of the minutes of the first meeting relating to the Great Exhibition of 1851. After the idea of an Exhibition was suggested to Prince Albert he called a meeting at Buckingham Palace to settle some of the initial ideas. Present at the meeting were Prince Albert, Henry Cole, Thomas Cubitt, John Scott Russell and Francis Fuller. The men discussed the idea of divisions, potential sites, the need for subscriptions, whether the exhibition should be for British industry only and also the need for a Royal Commission.
