Once the initial idea of an Exhibition had been decided upon, members of the Society of Arts toured some of Britain's manufacturing districts to determine whether there was support for such an undertaking. This letter from Henry Cole to Prince Albert reports that he, Francis Fuller and Matthew Digby Wyatt have completed these inquiries and proposes a meeting at Balmoral to go over their findings.
