WILLIAM RUSSELL (1800-84)
Letter from William Russell to Charles Ruland about pictures at the National Gallery to be photographed for the Prince Consort.
1 Jul 1860Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/126
Writing from the National Gallery, Russell states that the Keeper, Mr Wornum, is about to leave for a month's holiday, so that Ruland should perhaps send a photographer very soon, or not until August. He remarks that the Perugino could not be taken down and would have to be photographed where it hangs, although the glass would be removed, on a day when the Gallery is closed. The other pictures could be taken down.
