2 Aug 1853Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (13 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/M/53/206
Letter from Lord Derby to Prince Albert reporting that a severe 'fit of gout' meant that he was bed ridden and unable to carry out the Prince's commands regarding an address on the Wellington College Fund the following day. As a result, he explains his thoughts on the scheme and asks for Prince Albert's assistance, suggesting that he show the letter to Lord Aberdeen and Lord Hardinge. Written in Lady Derby's hand.
