Included is correspondence with various members of European royalty and nobility, and with British government ministers on both national and international matters. Subjects covered include the establishment of the Army Library at Aldershot, the H.M.S. 'Transit' at Corunna, photographs for the Raphael Collection in the Royal Library, the granting of the Freedom of the City of London to Prince Frederick William of Prussia and the wedding of Victoria, Princess Royal. Items of note include a memorandum written by the Prince Consort on his views on training for diplomatic services (VIC/MAIN/M/54/9) and a letter from Dr. Michael Faraday (VIC/MAIN/M/54/100).
