Includes the Princess Royal expressing her mixed emotions about her first Christmas away. She thanks her parents for the gifts and writes that her cold has almost gone. She also refers to the news about Bertie [Prince of Wales] playing tricks on the Valet, the new stable at Osborne and the new kitchen at Babelsberg. The Princess Royal expresses her shock at the deaths of Lady Wilton and Lady Clementina Villiers. The Reform Bill along with Mr Bright and Mr Roebuck are also mentioned.
